Listerine and White Vinegar Foot Soak

Pinterest is one of my favorite things, and I definitely spend more time pinning than I should.  I love to pin craft ideas (most of which I’ll never get around to doing), decorating ideas (for the house I don’t own yet), and hair and beauty tips (for all of outings I have scheduled in my very busy social life?).

One of the best things about Pinterest is the DIY nature of many of the pins.  Case in point:  As much as I would love to be able to go to a nail salon for a weekly mani/pedi, the reality is our current budget barely allows for a bi-monthly visit.  Thanks to Pinterest, it is entirely possible to find tips and tricks to pamper ourselves in a much more budget-friendly manner.

When I read this pin about using Listerine as a foot soak I was intrigued enough to research it a little further.  After reading a few different claims about how effective a solution of Listerine and white vinegar is in removing dead skin from the feet I decided I had to try it.

I mixed 1 ½ cups each of Listerine and white vinegar, then sat down and watched an episode of Don’t Be Tardy while my feet soaked.  The minty smell of the Listerine definitely overpowered the smell of the vinegar and the menthol and eucalyptus were very relaxing.  After 30 minutes I wiped my feet with a dry cloth, and I did not see any dead skin being wiped off (and as much as I’d like to pretend that there simply wasn’t any dead skin to get rid of, that’s just not the case).

Despite the lack of dead skin falling off of my feet, the Listerine and white vinegar soak was very refreshing and relaxing, and I’ll most likely soak my feet again in the very near future.

Do you have a favorite budget-friendly at-home foot treatment?  Do you find that a lot of pins you try don’t live up to the hype, or have you been pretty successful with most of them?
